Quite a journey for the Farnham U11 Sixers as we headed to our hosts, Cranleigh, on a cold and gloomy Sunday morning. Despite the calendar claiming it’s spring, those who arrived in shorts quickly realised they’d made a terrible mistake! ?
Skipper Leo lost the toss, and Farnham were sent into field first. With frozen fingers and plenty of shivering in the outfield, the boys stuck at it brilliantly as Cranleigh posted 283/5. Sonny, Alfie and George each picked up a wicket, while Nathan produced the moment of the morning by sending the “Bails to Wales” before adding a sharp run out to finish with two wickets.
Farnham went in to bat and produced a superb team performance. The match swung back and forth right down to the final over — and eventually the final two balls — before Farnham edged home by just 1 run, finishing on 284/7.
A fantastic morning and a brilliant way to secure our first win of the season. Well done boys, and a huge thank you to all the parents for the support, encouragement and extra layers throughout the match.
Roll on next week… and hopefully some warmer weather!
